Robert Half Systems Engineer in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Description We are in search of a Systems Engineer to join our team. The role is based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and offers a short term contract employment opportunity. Our focus is on designing and implementing complex computing systems. The Systems Engineer will be instrumental in ensuring our technological infrastructure runs efficiently and smoothly, optimizing system and application performance and integration.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze system requirements and lead design and deployment activities

• Implement high-availability and failover systems to maintain service integrity

• Test and debug systems to ensure seamless integration with existing hardware and software components

• Provide technical support for both hardware and software issues faced by users

• Monitor the system daily and respond immediately to security or usability concerns

• Upgrade systems and processes as necessary for optimal performance

• Develop and implement security protocols and measures

• Conduct regular system audits to ensure the secure operation of applications

• Ensure infrastructure networking and computing systems remain available during maintenance/update activities

• Create and verify backups of data

• Respond to and recover from technical failures

• Recommend and implement enhancements to improve system reliability and performance

• Document technical requirements, specifications, and solutions

• Maintain operational, configuration, and other procedures

• Produce and review reports on system health, performance, and capacity

• Work closely with IT teams and departments to ensure the consistent operation of applications and systems

• Research and recommend innovative solutions, and where possible automate approaches for system administration tasks Requirements • Proficient in Systems Engineering and its related components

• Demonstrable experience with LAN - Local Area Network

• Proficient knowledge and hands-on experience with Linux

• Experience with WAN - Wide Area Network is required

• Possess strong problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team

• Must have a proactive approach towards tasks and projects

• Good understanding of network protocols, routers, and switches

• Ability to troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field is preferred

• Professional certifications related to Systems Engineering are a plus
