Robert Half Accounts Receivable Supervisor/Manager in Pittsfield, New York


The Accounts Receivable Supervisor will be responsible for managing the day to day aspects of the accounts receivable function and ensuring the organization’s financial goals relating to accounts receivable objectives, targets and outcomes are achieved.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversees assigned staff including but not limited to coordinating and/or conducting staff training and development, performance evaluations, directing and assigning work, approving time cards and time off requests, and making recommendations for other personnel actions including hiring, firing, promotion and demotions.

  • Meets accounts receivable operational standards by contributing information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying system improvements.

  • Meets accounts receivable financial standards by providing annual accounts receivable budget information; monitoring expenditures; identifying variances; implementing corrective actions.

  • Collects accounts by contacting customers referred by clerks; investigating circumstances of non-payment; negotiating and resolving conflicts; expediting payment.

  • Supports financial planning by forecasting cash.

  • Updates receivables by coordinating and monitoring invoice processing and bank remittance transactions

  • Maintains financial security by adhering to internal accounting controls.

  • Maintains accounting ledgers by posting monthly account transactions.

  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.

  • Adheres to agency policies and procedures; follows and supports agency mission, vision and values including participating in internal surveys and data collection for continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Core Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal Medicaid, NYSOCFS reimbursement methodologies, managed care and third party payor regulations; ability to understand private insurance and apply Medicaid regulations.

  • Stays up to date with job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks.

  • Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries and complaints.

  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, manage and implement change and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Demonstrated decision making, organizational and communication skills including attention to detail, oral and written communication skills, listening and training skills.

  • Ability to travel and attend work related functions as needed.

  • Extensive computer literacy including but not limited to MS Office suite, specifically Excel and other financial related systems.

  • Ability to work with a culturally and economically diverse population.

Education & Work Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum Associate’s degree required

  • Minimum 5 years of experience

  • Supervisory experience required

  • Extensive experience in Not-for-profit Accounts Receivable Management
