Description
A well-established law firm in the East Bay Area is seeking a skilled Construction Defect Litigation Attorney to join their team on a contract-to-hire basis. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience handling construction defect cases, representing property owners, developers, contractors, and other stakeholders in complex litigation matters. This role provides an opportunity to work on high-value cases in a collaborative environment while advancing your legal career in a dynamic practice area.
Key Responsibilities:
Handle a full caseload of construction defect matters, including claims involving structural defects, water intrusion, and other property damages.
Conduct case assessments, including liability and damage analyses.
Draft and file pleadings, including complaints, answers, and motions, in compliance with California procedural rules.
Prepare dispositive motions such as motions for summary judgment and demurrers.
Manage all aspects of discovery, including drafting and responding to requests for production, interrogatories, and subpoenas.
Assist in trial preparation, including drafting trial briefs, organizing exhibits, and preparing witnesses.
Conduct in-depth legal research on California construction law and relevant case precedents.
Draft legal memoranda, briefs, and opinions to support litigation strategies.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
Active member of the California State Bar in good standing.
Minimum of 3 years of litigation experience, with a strong focus on construction defect cases.
Familiarity with California construction laws, statutes, and regulations, including the California Right to Repair Act (SB 800).
Proven experience managing cases from inception through resolution, including trial preparation.
Strong legal writing and oral advocacy skills.
Proficiency in handling complex discovery and expert witness depositions.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.
Proficiency in legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) and case management software.
