Description Robert Half Finance is helping a renowned services company find an ambitious candidate to fill the role of a Controller. The leadership position is responsible for an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, handles the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluates accounting and internal control systems, and leads departmental staff. This full-time position is for a Controller who will work in the Portage, Indiana region.
How you will make an impact
Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports
Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed
Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash
Review and revise deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations
Responsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual
Act on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure that firm-wide operation is efficient and effective Requirements - Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus

Skilled in analytical, quantitative and social skills
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Strong communication and social skills
Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired
Prior work done in public accounting is desired
Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP Accounting
Controllership experience required
Proficiency in Controllership Functions
Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills
