We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for an Accounting Clerk in our Portland, Maine office. As a part of our Accounting team, you will play a pivotal role in processing customer credit applications, maintaining accurate customer credit records, and resolving customer credit inquiries. Your diligence in monitoring customer credit accounts and taking appropriate action to collect delinquent payments will be crucial to our operations.

Responsibilities:

• Respond to and resolve customer credit inquiries promptly

• Monitor customer credit accounts regularly for any discrepancies or issues

• Take appropriate action to collect delinquent payments from customers

• Collaborate with the Accounting team to ensure the accuracy of accounts payable

• Handle debit and credit reconciliations

• Utilize your skills in 'Accounts Payable (AP)' and 'Account Reconciliation' to manage related tasks

• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to financial compliance guidelines

• Work collaboratively with the team to achieve overall accounting objectives.

Requirements

• Candidate should possess a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.

• Proven experience as an accounting clerk or a similar role in the accounting department.

• Proficiency in the use of accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

• Strong understanding and experience with Accounts Payable (AP) processes.

• Experience with account reconciliation and maintaining accurate financial records.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

• Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.

• Understanding of accounting principles and regulations.
