Robert Half Financial Analyst in Portland, Maine

Description If you have a finance background and possess strong communication skills, you may qualify for this Financial Analyst role via Robert Half. Primary job functions consist of conducting financial modeling on various financial products as well as measuring, analyzing, and forecasting performance in conjunction with operating plans, advising management on the allocation of resources to best accomplish objectives, and preparing reports for management. Responsibilities

  • Complete and direct forecasting reports

  • Track monthly and quarterly performance through comparison of actuals versus expectations and enable business partners to handle their resources

  • Drive monthly reporting to business partners on financial results and actions required

  • Work with senior executives on strategic deep dives by developing financial models and insights on topics such as: Retention forecasts, Campaign Planning & Tracking, return on investment of strategic investments, event tracking and execution, strategic resource allocation, and prioritization

  • An ideal candidate should be highly flexible, comfortable with large amounts of information, and adept at managing expectations

  • Work alongside cross-functional partners in Accounting and Operations to ensure plans are properly executed

  • Enable effective Business Intelligence (BI) to provide forward-looking insight and decision support

  • Understand and be able to explain internal and external drivers impacting performance and trending

  • Analyze performance to date and assess potential risks and opportunities

  • Work on monthly and quarterly financial close processes in collaboration with the Accounting team

  • Support Area/Segment-level Bookings on a weekly, quarterly and annual basis, as well as P& L forecasting Requirements - Spreadsheet and ERP system experience recommended

  • Ability to recognize, evaluate, and resolve problems effectively

  • Firm understanding of problem solving through statistical analysis or with large data sets highly preferable (such as in derivatives, structured finance, or business analytics or in a similarly demanding and analytical role)

  • Financial planning & analysis (go-to-market experience preferable)

  • Business Intelligence (BI) reporting tools experience a plus

  • Adeptness in Oracle

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel

  • Annual Budget experience

  • Corporate Financial Planning experience required

  • Financial analysis experience

  • Ad Hoc Reporting experience preferred

  • 1+ years of experience in problem solving through statistical analysis or with large data sets highly preferable (such as in derivatives, structured finance, or business analytics or in a similarly demanding and analytical role)

  • BA/BS degree in finance or a related field

  • Strong communication skills and able to receive criticism well

  • Able to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
