Description

Robert Half is seeking a dedicated Payroll Manager for a key role in overseeing all aspects of the payroll function within a dynamic organization. This position involves administering, planning, organizing, and controlling payroll operations to ensure compliance with state, federal, and local regulations. The Payroll Manager will monitor and coordinate reporting requirements to various government agencies, process reconciliations, and provide technical leadership in the use of payroll systems. Additionally, this role requires active communication with the HR and Benefits teams to ensure accuracy in benefits withholdings and collaboration with Finance staff for biweekly payroll processing and reconciliation.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree and have over 5 years of experience in payroll processing, including a managerial capacity within a large organization. Experience supporting HR-Payroll software systems, preferably Munis, is essential. Strong capabilities in MS Excel, a deep understanding of federal and state payroll regulations, and the ability to multitask under strict deadlines are crucial. Excellent communication skills, a customer service orientation, and a commitment to confidentiality and integrity are also key. This role offers the opportunity to lead a team, recommend best practice operations, and collaborate proactively to resolve issues. This is position is 100% on-site in Portland with parking provided. Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a payroll supervisory or management role within the education industry

• Proficiency in using ADP for financial services and payroll management

• Demonstrated experience in managing payroll for over 500 employees

• Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel

• In-depth knowledge of payroll laws and best practices

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise and direct a team

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain accuracy in a high-volume environment

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is preferred

• Certification as a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) would be an advantage

• Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
