Robert Half Assistant Controller - hybrid! in Portland, Oregon


Sue Sumrell is recruiting for an Assistant Controller to join this profitable and growing corporation. This is a new position due to growth. This role is crucial to operations, providing guidance and assistance to the Controller in preparing and reporting accurate and timely financial statements. The Assistant Controller will oversee day-to-day and month-end accounting functions and supervise the accounting team while improving and creating new processes to scale with the company.


• Prepare and report financial statements under the guidance of the Controller

• Manage the day-to-day and month-end accounting functions

• Supervise the accounting team and ensure the smooth running of the department

• Improve existing accounting procedures and create new processes to scale with the company

• Use accounting software systems and enterprise resource planning (ERP) tools effectively

• Manage accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) staff

• Conduct regular auditing and month-end close processes

• Oversee annual inventory and ensure adherence to GAAP Accounting principles

• Use MS Dynamics AX and other necessary software proficiently

• Exhibit strong management skills in dealing with a diverse team and multiple work assignments.

• Degree in Accounting or Finance and 6-7 years' corporate accounting experience. Experience managing a team required.

• Prior experience in Auditing preferred

• Knowledge of Month End Close procedures

• Experience with Annual Inventory management

• Strong understanding of GAAP Accounting principles

• Strong Management skills with ability to lead a team

• Proficiency in MS Dynamics AX

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar role or related field
