Robert Half Medical Billing Specialist in Portland, Oregon

Description We are seeking a Medical Billing Specialist to join our team in the non-profit industry in Portland, Oregon. The role involves a range of duties including the management of customer accounts, processing claims, and ensuring the efficient operation of our credit systems. This role offers a short-term contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately process Medicare, Medicaid, self-pay/uninsured, and commercial insurance claims in line with payer requirements and organizational policy.

• Monitor account receivables, check claim statuses, resubmit overdue claims, and file corrected claims or appeals.

• Effectively handle patient payments, electronic remits, and paper explanation of benefits (EOBs).

• Correct claim and charge errors diligently.

• Thoroughly investigate and resolve credit balances.

• Respond to phone calls from patients and responsible parties regarding account balances and other matters, providing empathetic and compassionate customer service.

• Conduct specific projects related to billing, data entry, and computer operations as required.

• Update registrations in Epic and maintain complete and accurate billing and accounts receivable records.

• Send correspondence to member clinic/Client in accordance with their policies and procedures.

• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with patients, payers, team members, clients, and other stakeholders, whilst always ensuring the confidentiality of patient information, organization data, and information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

• Continuously improve your understanding of collection processes and strategies by working with colleagues within OBS and OCHIN Collaborative. Requirements • Demonstrated proficiency in Inpatient Coding

• Solid experience in Medical Billing

• Familiarity with Epic EMR system

• Strong understanding of Accounts Receivable (AR) processes

• Experience in conducting Claims audits

• Ability to work effectively within a non-profit setting

• Excellent communication and organizational skills

• High attention to detail and accuracy

• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
