Description

Charlie Gilmur with Robert Half is currently working with a client seeking a Payroll Manager. This Payroll Manager will help achieve standards that are necessary for growth within the financial department and will be responsible for work on tax-related tasks, such as W2 forms, preparing reports and updating policies. This may be the role for you if you are a dynamic Payroll Manager with excellent communication, proven leadership, and are deadline driven.

Your responsibilities

  • Develop systems to process payroll account transactions (e.g., salaries, benefits, garnishments, deductions, taxes and third-party payments)

  • Respond to all questions related to payroll and resolve issues

  • Create reports and ensure accuracy of records

  • Abide by relevant laws and internal policies

  • Collaborate with auditors and manage payroll tax audits

  • Coach and supervise payroll assistants and clerks

  • Oversee processing of payroll changes (e.g., new hires, terminations, raises) and system upgrades

  • Work with Human Resources (HR) and accounting teams

  • Organize payroll systems and timekeeping

Requirements - Strong organizational and leadership skills

  • Superb understanding of multi-location payroll and taxes

  • 2+ years of proven leadership experience as a payroll manager or similar role

  • CPP, CPM, or other related professional certifications is a plus

  • 5+ years of payroll experience

  • Sound understanding of current payroll procedures and related laws

  • Strong communication and social skills and able to receive criticism well

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources or related field

  • Comfortable with handling confidential business matters and information with discretion

  • Skilled in a number of payroll applications

  • Strong understanding of compliance
