Robert Half Payroll Specialist in Portland, Oregon
Description
We are offering a long-term contract employment opportunity for a Payroll Specialist for a property management company based in Portland, Oregon. A successful candidate will be tasked with absorbing payroll and HR tasks while supporting a transition in software systems.
Responsibilities:
• Effectively manage and process payroll for approximately 120 employees.
• Support the transition in software systems by setting up processes and creating guides.
• Handle HR administration tasks including but not limited to onboarding new employees and managing employee relations.
• Ensure accurate payroll tax calculations and deductions.
• Monitor employee accounts and take appropriate actions as needed.
• Maintain up-to-date and accurate records of payroll transactions.
• Respond to and resolve payroll-related inquiries from employees.
• Handle payroll garnishments according to federal and state regulations.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and company policies.
Requirements
• Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now and/or Paychex is strongly preferred
• 2+ years of demonstrated experience managing payroll for 100+ employees
• Familiarity with payroll garnishments is required
• Knowledge of Human Resources (HR) Administration is beneficial
• Experience in the onboarding process for new hires
• Strong understanding of employee relations
• Familiarity with payroll taxes and related legislation
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field preferred but not required
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is an advantage
