Robert Half Staff Accountant in Portsmouth, New Hampshire

Description

Robert Half currently has a permanent opportunity for an experienced Staff Accountant to join their growing team. The Staff Accountant will prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. You will also be responsible for various aspects of internal reporting throughout the monthly close. Lend your skills towards developing and implementing accounting policies. In addition, you will take part in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and look over schedules for the reporting processes. This position is very complex as it plays a part in the production of Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. This company, based in the Seacoast area and offers a challenging and multi-faceted opportunity where effort is rewarded.

Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare monthly journal entries for entry into the general ledger system, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.

  • Conduct detailed analysis of general ledger accounts and accruals to ensure accuracy and proper accounting treatment.

  • Collect and analyze financial data to prepare monthly combined financial statements and reports, including additional explanatory text as necessary.

  • Participate in monthly financial meetings to discuss and review financial reports with stakeholders.

  • Assist with year-end closings and preparation of annual financial statements in compliance with accounting guidelines and U.S. GAAP.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in accounting or finance roles.

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and standards (GAAP).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP).

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.

  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in work.
