Robert Half Payroll Administrator ADP WFN in Princeton, New Jersey

Description Our client is seeking a Payroll Administrator to manage payroll operations for approximately 2,500 exempt and non-exempt employees across the United States and Puerto Rico. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now and a solid understanding of multi-state payroll practices, compliance, and regulations. This role requires attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to manage deadlines effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Processing: Prepare and process semi-monthly payroll for 2,300 employees in various states and territories, including Puerto Rico, using ADP Workforce Now. Compliance & Regulations: Ensure payroll compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws. Stay updated on payroll tax changes and requirements in all applicable jurisdictions. Timekeeping & Data Verification: Review and validate timesheets, leave balances, and hours worked for accuracy and completeness. Ensure all adjustments are made in accordance with policy. Deductions & Benefits Processing: Manage payroll deductions, including health benefits, retirement contributions, garnishments, and other withholdings. Reporting & Documentation: Generate and maintain payroll reports, records, and documentation. Assist with audit requests and month-end payroll reconciliations. Employee Support: Address payroll-related inquiries from employees, providing clear and timely responses. Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies as needed. Systems Administration: Serve as the primary administrator for ADP Workforce Now, ensuring system accuracy and functionality. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for streamlining payroll processes, enhancing accuracy, and improving efficiency. Requirements Experience: 3+ years of payroll administration experience, with a focus on multi-state payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees. Experience processing payroll for Puerto Rico is a plus. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Technical Skills: Proficient in ADP Workforce Now; strong Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis. Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of payroll practices, wage and hour laws, payroll tax compliance, and reporting requirements for the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to address payroll-related questions and issues effectively. Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills with a commitment to accuracy and timeliness.
