Robert Half Staff Accountant in Putney, Vermont

In this role, the Staff Accountant is in charge of preparing monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. This position spends a fair amount of time producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. You will also be in charge of many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. In addition, your responsibilities include communicating with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, playing an active role in compliance, and reviewing schedules for the reporting processes.
How you will make an impact
Offer succinct analysis on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a clear and concise manner
Be responsible for analysis of income statements and balance sheets and communicate findings to management
Support implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Participate in various initiatives spanning multiple departments
Carry out month end close, journal entries, without supervision
Maintain monthly payment schedules
Be responsible for account reconciliations including prepaid expenses, payroll, and other assignments
Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed
Participate in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation Requirements - Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
2+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Top notch analytical, quantitative and social skills
Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
ERP system experience
Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
Knowledge of month end closings
Year end closings experience
Well-founded grasp of auditing
Solid understanding of Tax Reporting
Proven knowledge of journal entries
Accounts Receivable (AR) experience highly desired
Financial reporting experience
Competent with spreadsheets and databases
