This reputable company is seeking a Controller through Robert Half who has a knack for leading with high standards, positively motivating others, and making critical decisions and have experience taking charge of an accounting and clerical department. This position is for candidates who can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. The ideal candidate for this position can lead with integrity and reliability and have the ability to manage self and others with urgency, practicality and accountability when providing client services. This permanent position is for a Controller who will work in the Radnor, Pennsylvania region.

What you get to do every single day

  • Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques

  • Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation

  • Prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handle daily cash management

  • Able to perform additional tasks beyond formal job duties

  • Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis

  • Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

  • Check deliverables of self and team to certify they meet client expectations

  • Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed

  • Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports

    Requirements

  • Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

  • Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines

  • Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

  • Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to retain complex work directions

  • Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • CPA/MBA preferred

  • Benchmark experience highly preferred

  • Previous experience working with Accounts Payable (AP)

  • Adeptness in Microsoft Office 365

  • Knowledge of CPA

  • Comprehension of training development

  • Experience with US GAAP

  • General familiarity with financial analysis

  • Practical knowledge of budget forecasting

  • Earlier work involving bank reconciliations

  • Good understanding of payroll

  • Accounts Receivable (AR) experience highly valued

  • Enterprise resource planning experience

  • Prepare Financial Statements experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Excel

  • Financial reporting experience

  • Background working with Capital Improvement

  • Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity
