Robert Half Desktop Support in Raleigh, North Carolina


This position involves significant interaction with internal customers. It includes day-to-day operations responsibility for the utilization, maintenance, monitoring of info systems, software/hardware configurations, and installation of equipment. Work is performed with little supervision and requires initiative and judgment.



  • Install and maintain desktop computers and network servers.

  • Maintain security of desktop computer systems and network.

  • Create and maintain a system to monitor user accounts and system use.

  • Design desktop computer system configuration.

  • Design and implement services for computer desktop computers.

  • Design and implement automated desktop computer operating system maintenance and configuration systems.

  • Troubleshoot and take corrective action on various facility systems, tools and hardware.

  • Support the new hire process, ensuring all incoming employees are prepared with the tools necessary to perform their functions.

  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality and integrity of the IT department.

  • Follows all corporate policies as well as the safety and security procedures.


  • Communication Articulates information in a way that can be easily understood by employees, members, and suppliers. Actively listens to fellow employees, members, and managers.

  • Member Service Exhibits a professional demeanor toward others. Unselfishly serves others and assists members, employees, and suppliers in a prompt and effective manner while following company procedures.

  • College degree in IT preferred


  • Desktop support or comparable experience with 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent technical knowledge of desktop hardware and software, including Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.

  • Ability to conduct research into PC issues and products.

  • Effective interpersonal skills, and relationship building skills.

  • Able to present ideas in user-friendly language.

  • Ability to work independently and/or as a team member
