Robert Half Accountant in Ramsey, New Jersey

Description Robert Half is seeking a General Accountant for a contract-to-permanent opportunity with a growing Real Estate firm in Ramsey, New Jersey. The selected individual will play a crucial role in performing accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy of financial data, and assisting with year-end reconciliations.

Responsibilities: -Manage day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements. -Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports, specifically focusing on real estate transactions. -Maintain and reconcile ledger accounts, bank statements, and balances. -Coordinate with other departments to ensure all transactions are accurately accounted for and reflect current regulations and company policies. -Assist in budget preparation and financial planning processes. -Conduct variance analyses and prepare financial forecasts. -Calculate commissions and assist with commissions payouts and reconciliations -Ensure accuracy in figures, postings, and reports by adhering to established accounting principles. -Participate in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual closings and the proper filing of tax returns. -Support the finance team in external audits by providing necessary information and preparing requested documentations. Requirements -Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA certification is highly preferred. -At least 3 years of accounting experience, with a strong preference for candidates who have real estate accounting background. -Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Oracle) -Experience working with Excel Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs -Excellent understanding of financial regulations and reporting requirements including GAAP and other applicable standards. -Strong analytical skills, accuracy, and attention to detail. -Exceptional organizational and time management skills; able to manage priorities and workflow. -Excellent verbal and written communication skills. -Ability to work independently and as a part of a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
