Description Robert Half is seeking candidates who have a knack for leading with high standards, positively motivating others, and making critical decisions and have experience taking charge of an accounting and clerical department, for a Controller position at a reputable company. Planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff will be essential for this role. In this role, it will be critical for you to lead with integrity and reliability and have the ability to manage self and others with urgency, practicality and accountability when providing client services. This full-time position is for a Controller who will work in the Rancho Dominquez, California region.
What you get to do every day
Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques
Review deliverables of self and team to align with client expectations
Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required
Comfortable in taking on tasks beyond formal job responsibilities
Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports
Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure efficient and successful firm-wide operation Requirements - Foundational knowledge in Manufacturing Cost Accounting
Well-founded grasp of external auditing
Accounts Receivable (AR) experience preferred
US GAAP experience
Practical knowledge of forecasting
General familiarity with financial reporting
Proven knowledge of internal audit
Quality experience with budget forecasting
KPI Reporting experience
Strong familiarity with cost accounting
Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
High attention to detail
Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines
Prior work done in public accounting is desired
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Self-starter and strong ethical standards
Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred
Excellent written, verbal and social communication skills highly desired
Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued
Strong analytical capabilities and discernment
