Robert Half Staff Accountant in Redondo Beach, California

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant in Redondo Beach, California. The role involves a variety of accounting tasks within a dynamic business environment. This includes managing accounts payable and receivable, overseeing cash management, handling fixed assets, maintaining the general ledger, and preparing tax returns.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the full cycle of accounts payable, including opening the mail, coding and posting invoices, and sending out checks to vendors.

• Manage accounts receivable tasks such as billing, cash application, and collections.

• Handle cash management tasks such as depositing checks, tracking cash flow, and performing bank reconciliation.

• Oversee company assets and calculate monthly depreciation.

• Maintain the general ledger by creating and posting journal entries, analyzing and reconciling accounts, and producing financial statements.

• Prepare tax returns, including property tax, 1099s, and sales tax.

• Utilize Microsoft Excel for a majority of tasks, including creating and maintaining spreadsheets.

• Work both independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects simultaneously and prioritizing assignments to meet deadlines.

• Communicate calmly and professionally with external customers and vendors, as well as all levels of internal staff, both in writing and verbally. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field

• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP)

• Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles

• Proven ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records

• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

• Competency in MS Office, databases, and accounting software

• Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and financial reports

• Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, and regulations

• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks

• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills

• Capacity to work independently and as part of a team

• Ethical behavior when dealing with sensitive financial information

• Ability to meet communicated schedules and deadlines

• Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with both financial and non-financial employees.
