Robert Half Compensation & Benefits Specialist in Redwood City, California


Robert Half is working with a fantastic organization in Redwood City. Our client is seeking a is seeking a highly organized and experienced Compensation & Benefits Specialist to support them for the next two months. This position is critical to the compensation and benefits programs our client offers. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of compensation structures, benefits administration, health care coverages, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations in California.

Compensation Management

  • Develop, implement, and maintain compensation plans for various positions

  • Manage job evaluation processes and determine appropriate pay grades

  • Collaborate with district leadership and school administrators to design equitable and consistent compensation packages.

Benefits Administration

  • Oversee the administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, wellness programs, and other ancillary benefits specific to the education sector.

  • Manage relationships with benefits vendors and negotiate contracts to ensure cost-effective and high-quality service delivery.

  • Coordinate open enrollment processes and effectively communicate benefit options to all district employees

  • Handle benefit inquiries and ensure the resolution of issues and concerns in a timely manner.

  • ·Stay informed about industry trends and legislative changes affecting benefits, particularly those relevant to public sector employees.

Compliance and Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local compensation and benefits laws and regulations

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of compensation and benefits data

  • Conduct audits to ensure accuracy and compliance with district policies and regulatory requirements

  • Analyze compensation and benefits data to identify trends and make informed recommendations to district leadership

  • Prepare and deliver reports on compensation and benefits metrics to HR leadership and the school board.

  • Utilize HRIS systems to manage and report on compensation and benefits programs

  • Employee Communication and Support

  • Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding compensation and benefits questions and issues



  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred

  • 3-5 years of experience in compensation and benefits, preferably within an educational or public sector environment.

  • Strong knowledge of compensation practices, benefits administration, and relevant laws and regulations (e.g., FLSA, ERISA, ACA) applicable to school districts.

  • Proficiency with HRIS and compensation/benefits software (e.g., Munis, Skyward).

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

  • Professional certification (e.g., CCP, CBP, PHR) is a plus.
