Description

Month-end accounting work for an experienced Sr. Accountant in Redwood City, California! This part-time role is crucial to our financial operations and entails a thorough understanding of accounting principles, particularly accrual method accounting. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in NetSuite and exhibit a strong understanding of non-profit organization accounting.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct preliminary month-end financial statement review and analysis process

• Monitor and question variances

• Coordinate preliminary month-end close meetings to discuss findings and notes

• Delegate responsibility for cleanup efforts, if any, during preliminary meetings

• Ensure monthly close task list is completed, checking in on anything that might have been overlooked or missing

• Verify accuracy and provide suggestions, corrections, and recommendations for journal entries and external Excel worksheets

• Manage depreciation, pre-paid expenses, and accrued liabilities

• Oversee budget and deferred revenue.

Requirements • Candidate must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in a comparable role as a Senior Accountant.

• Proficiency in using NetSuite is essential for this role.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.

• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is necessary.

• Experience in preparing financial statements and corporate reports.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly in Excel, is required.

• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certifications are preferred.

• Experience in auditing and compliance-related tasks is beneficial.

• Understanding of payroll, accounts payable and receivable, and budgeting procedures.

• Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity.
