Description
Tyler Houk (Practice Director) with Robert Half is searching for a meticulous Staff Accountant to join our team in the Food & Food Processing industry, based in Reedley, California. In this role, you will be responsible for a wide range of accounting tasks, including cost accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and job costing preparations. You will also oversee the month-end financial close of all job costing and reporting processes, financial planning and analysis, budget comparisons, and reconciliation of various financial data and journal entries.
Responsibilities:
• Maintain and improve costing models used for creating pack charges
• Analyze historical and forecast future costs related to labor, materials, and burden
• Monitor labor, material, and burden budget and budget to actual reports
• Capture and report cost of goods sold and production reports
• Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
• Assist in the preparation of management reports and presentations
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations
• Review and maintain general ledger accounts to ensure proper categorization of expenses
• Prepare and post journal entries
• Conduct month-end and year-end close processes
• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts
• Monitor budget performance and report variances
• Support the development and implementation of financial plans
• Prepare audit schedules and provide support during internal and external audits
• Address audit findings and implement corrective actions
• Assist in the preparation and filing of tax returns
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations
• Verify and sign off on all third-party vendor invoices
• Process accounts payable invoices and ensure timely payments
• Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing and collections
• Reconcile accounts payable and receivable balances
• Review depreciation schedules for accuracy
• Analyze farm operations, equipment availability, utilization, and life cycle cost benefits
• Maintain Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Database
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data within the ERP system
Requirements
• Must have a solid understanding of Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Proficiency in bank reconciliations is required
• Knowledge and experience in handling General Ledger activities is a must
• Ability to prepare and analyze Journal Entries is essential
• Must have experience in Month End Close procedures
• Must possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary
• Should have the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite is needed
• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required
• Relevant work experience in the food and food processing industry is preferred.
