Robert Half Business Intelligence Developer IV in Remote (USA), California

Robert Half is seeking a BI Developer IV to design, develop and support reporting activities providing technical solutions for business analysts and customers. The Developer is the Main Point of Contact (POC) to BI Analyst for any reporting/data needs. They ensure proper report/dashboard design, best practices for ETL/Data flow design and report/dashboard development. They are SMEs on the usage of various BI developer tools and train/mentor BI analysts and power users on how best to use BI tools for an effective report/dashboard design and development. They support and provide calculations/variables for complex formulas needed to meet reporting requirements. They are a partner with technical analysts, technical data architects and technical system architects to offer ideas and recommendations on best reporting design and development.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Lead efforts for designing very complex data flow/ETL for reports/dashboards in partnership with BI Analyst

  • Partners with senior data experts to source data from source systems efficiently and accurately

  • Develop standard naming conventions for complex variables and calculations.

  • Participate in design sessions to define metrics and semantic models

  • Perform peer review and sign-off to ensure best design practices are being met

  • Consult with Sr.BI Data Architect to understand/confirm optimal data sources and data definitions

  • Guide efforts for automating ETLs and troubleshooting design and performance issues

  • Educate and cross-train BI Analysts and Developers for knowledge transfer on the developed product

  • Presents most frequently on Analyst Community forums and team meetings to showcase solutions and share knowledge

  • Lead in documenting technical requirements and design specs as needed based on the Business demands

  • Advanced knowledge of open-source and industry standard business analytics tools used to query, analyze, model, and visualize data

  • Ability to document technical requirements and design specs as needed based on the Business demands

  • Lead efforts in maintaining advanced understanding of multiple different BI tools (Workday, Prism, SAP Business Objects, Domo, Cognos etc.) and ability to use BI tools to design, develop, test complex reports and dashboards

  • Create highly complex dashboard solutions, including charts, apps, forms, and other interactive capabilities

  • Very Strong understanding of CRM/ERP systems and data

to deliver reporting solutions using CRM/ERP reporting tools (Workday, PeopleSoft, Salesforce, Deltek Maconomy)

  • Lead in developing processes and best practices for documenting and maintaining the report life cycle.

  • Guide efforts in coordinating content migration to production following a thorough testing and UAT; Influence the schedule and timing accordingly

  • Guide efforts in determining feasibility of complex proof of concepts and implement solution

  • Actively Implement automated reporting and dashboard solutions for reporting, analytics, and data science

  • Certifications across multiple BI platforms (e.g., Major Domo, Workday Developer) and proven super proficiency in using those systems to satisfy business demands

  • Resolve escalated, highly complex issues that impact production reports and dashboards with sense of urgency to meet SLAs

  • Proactively lead in checking defect management tools (SNOW, JIRA) and partner with BI Analyst to resolve

  • Ability to proactively communicate effectively and explain technical issues with resolution to the impacted users

  • Guide efforts in implementing innovative process improvement to optimize current processes

  • Consults with other reporting teams and offers proactive advice, when additional support is needed for intra-departmental projects

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Finance, or equivalent work experience

  • 7+ years’ experience working with different BI Tools (Workday, Prism, SAP Business Objects, Domo, Cognos etc.)

  • 7+ years’ experience in designing complex ETL, data flows, and semantic models

  • 5+ years’ experience working with large datasets from complex data platforms

  • 5-7+ years’ experience managing data pipelines through ETL tools (e.g., Domo, Informatica, Data Stage, etc.), sourcing data, transforming, and building business-friendly outputs for other analysts to use

  • 5-7+ years’ experience using semantic modelling tools (e.g., Cognos Framework Manager, Business Objects Universe Designer, etc.) to define data relationships, metric definitions, and recommended data labelling and aggregation rules

  • Advanced understanding of BI tools & relational database concepts

  • High proficiency in reading and interpreting SQL

  • High proficiency in advanced features of analytic tools (Excel, Domo, Cognos, Business Objects, etc.)

  • Highly skilled in interpreting business requirements & creating technical solutions; designing, diagraming, and communicating back to both business and technical analysts

  • Highly skilled in Data Extract, Transform, & Load (ETL)

  • Proficiency working with traditional and cloud data platforms

  • Proficiency in standard business applications, (e.g. Excel, Access, PowerPoint)

  • Certifications in BI tools, Analytics, Data Science, or other applicable area strongly desired (e.g. Major Domo, Workday Developer, etc.)

  • Ability to work independently

  • Proficient in communicating technical ideas to business analysts and leaders

  • Ability to work as part of a team to achieve a common goal

  • Advanced problem-solving and solutioning, particularly where data schemas don't align or where business requirement require creative solutioning

  • Experience and understanding of common financial concepts, metrics, and calculations

  • Ability to make local decisions independently

  • Ability to facilitate, conduct meetings, gather information, and present status

  • Ability to design business solutions for new processes and new business practices.

  • Adaptability and demonstrate good judgment

The typical salary range for this position is $105,000 to $159,000. The salary is negotiable depending upon experience and location. The position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus
