Robert Half Director of Statutory Accounting and Finance in Reno, Nevada

Description Katie Weigel with Robert Half Finance and Accounting is recruiting to fill a Director of Finance and Statutory Reporting position with an insurance company in Reno. The position is a combination of Statutory reporting (accounting), Budgeting and Strategic finance, and day to day operations and operational finance. The person in this role will be hands on as far as statutory reporting, but also supervise a small team of analysts and have the support of a corporate accounting team on the transactional accounting front. This position is responsible for all monthly financial reporting, administrative cost management, operating and capital budget planning, five-year financial planning, business case development, product pricing and relate premium billing and statutory reporting and interaction with external oversight groups, such as the Nevada Division of Insurance.

To be considered for this role candidates should have at least 5 years of statutory accounting experience, and 10 years total of accounting and finance experience, including 3 years as a leader of those functions. This role has a high degree of communication with internal leaders and external groups as well, so strong communication skills are a must. A BS Degree in Accounting is required, and additional schooling (MBA or business related Masters) or CPA are strongly desired.

• Thorough understanding of Accounting Functions and Statutory Accounting Principles

• Demonstrable expertise in the management of Budget Processes and Capital Management

• Proven experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP& A)

• Must have experience with CapEx management

• Proficiency in Long-range financial planning

• Must have the ability to analyze and present complex financial data in a clear and concise manner

• Must have excellent communication and leadership skills, including at least 3 years of management experience

• Advanced degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is preferred

• Professional certification such as a CPA is a plus

• Must have the ability to work collaboratively across different teams and departments

• Strong problem-solving skills and strategic thinking ability are essential.
