Robert Half Payroll Administrator in Reno, Nevada

Description Katie Weigel with Robert Half Finance and Accounting is recruiting to fill a Payroll Administrator role for a company with North American headquarters in Reno.

Day to day responsibilities for this role include:

• Process and distribute complex multi-state and multi-company payroll timely and accurately.

• Process employee new hire and maintenance transactions for the payroll and timekeeping systems

• Responsible for ensuring the timekeeping system calculates hours according to state and federal laws

• Independently conduct appropriate audits to ensure data integrity

• Ensure that timecards are approved by the employee and manager in a timely manner and follow up on any missing approvals until each pay period is 100% complete

• Responsible for routine payroll and timekeeping system administration (e.g. password resets, schedules, new pay and task codes)

• Responsible for timekeeping training for all employees, and for responding to employee inquiries and requests regarding payroll and timekeeping matters in a timely manner while maintaining confidentiality

• Assist with preparation of management reports as required

• Process paper checks and receive and address mail items

• Must be available to work nights, weekends, and more than 40 hours per week if necessary to get the job done. The department is staffed appropriately, and this is limited.

• A minimum of 3 years of payroll processing experience or the equivalent combination of experience and education is required

• Experience processing multi-state payroll and electronic timekeeping

• Experience with ADP Workforce Now ideal

• Experience with Enhanced Time preferred

• Knowledge of payroll and employment tax laws and required payroll record keeping and FLSA

• Ability to deal with highly confidential information in a professional and discrete manner

Strong Excel, and customer service skills are a must.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Payroll Administrator or in a similar role

• Proficiency in using ADP Workforce Now and Microsoft Excel

• Experience in check processing and ADP - Payroll

• Knowledge and experience in full cycle payroll

• Experience in handling multi-state payroll

• Familiarity with payroll processes for over 500 employees

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion

• Strong problem solving and analytical skills

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

• High level of attention to detail and accuracy

• Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines

• Strong ethics, with a customer-oriented attitude
