Katie Weigel with Robert Half Finance and Accounting is recruiting to fill a Tax Accountant role for a growing family office in the Reno area. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage with a wide array of U.S. and international tax matters, providing exposure to complex, high-net-worth tax situations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing federal and state tax returns for high-net-worth individuals and assisting with two large partnership and trust tax returns, including multi-state filings. Key duties include processing over 550 partnership K-1s, many involving state income tax and international reporting requirements.
Additional responsibilities include:
• Assisting in the preparation of partnership tax returns and various informational forms.
• Federal and state tax returns for individuals, and their related entities.
• Handling Foreign Bank Account Reporting (FBARs) and 1099 reconciliations.
• Preparing tax estimates, projections, and other miscellaneous tax filings.
In the long term, the candidate will assist with tax planning and process implementation related to complex liquidity events in the future. This will involve close collaboration with the organization’s legal and tax professionals, as well as external advisors, to ensure comprehensive tax compliance and estate tax planning.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• 1-4 years of tax experience preferred, but not required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on accounting data analytics (Excel, Power BI, etc.).
• Familiarity with tax preparation software (preferred, but not required).
• Strong accounting and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail.

• Knowledge of Compliance requirements in Trust Companies
• Understanding of Complex Tax issues
• Familiarity with Federal Income Tax
• Experience dealing with Foreign Tax
• Knowledge of Gift tax procedures
• Proficiency in Income Tax Accounting
• Experience in Income Tax Compliance
• Ability to manage Individual Tax Return
• Knowledge of International Tax Compliance.
