Robert Half Billing Specialist in Reston, Virginia
Description We are offering a long-term contract role for a Billing Specialist in Reston, Virginia. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and reviewing monthly invoices, analyzing unbilled receivables, and resolving billing discrepancies. This position is within a fast-paced environment, requiring the ability to work both independently and cross-functionally.
Responsibilities:
• Accurately prepare and review monthly invoices in accordance with company guidelines and contract requirements
• Analyze and reconcile unbilled receivables on a monthly basis
• Respond to internal and external customer inquiries regarding billing status
• Initiate communication with external and internal customers to resolve billing discrepancies
• Assist in collection efforts and in resolving collection issues
• Collaborate with Project Accounting team, Program Managers, Project Financial Controllers, and Contract Managers to ensure invoice accuracy and completeness
• Produce indirect rate variance invoices when required
• Utilize financial reports to ensure overall invoice compliance
• Use the Costpoint software for various accounting and billing functions
• Conduct computer research and use Microsoft Excel for data management and analysis. Requirements • Minimum three years of experience as a Billing Specialist or in a similar role
• Proficiency in accounting software, specifically Costpoint
• Familiarity with accounting and billing procedures
• Demonstrated experience with accounts receivable (AR)
• Knowledge of auditing procedures
• Proficiency in billing functions and cash applications
• Experience with computer research and data analysis
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
• High attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or relevant field is preferred.
