Description
Position Overview: We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to develop a utility with a user interface to automate the over-the-air firmware update process for our fleet of mobile energy storage units. This role will involve creating a seamless, user-friendly application that allows customers to efficiently update firmware across multiple modules within their systems.
Duration: 4 – 6 months
Location: Richmond Local/Hybrid
Requirements
Responsibilities:
Develop scripts to automate the firmware update process for each application.
Create a single application with a user interface to guide technicians through the update process.
Explore the feasibility of using a command-line interface (CLI) for specific applications.
Minimize the number of cables and connections required for updates.
Develop a "Release Management" module to manage firmware versions and ensure compatibility.
Technical Requirements:
Experience with or familiarity with embedded systems and/or conventions around applying firmware updates.
Expertise with Windows OS, as some of our existing processes rely on Windows.
Experience developing custom scripts or routines, preferably in Python.
Proficiency in Python to create scripts that invoke REST API endpoints to perform actions, status checks, and more.
Experience or familiarity with CAN or CANBUS protocol communication is highly desirable.
