Robert Half Accounts Payable Specialist in Richmond, Virginia
Description
We are on the hunt for a diligent Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team, located in Richmond, Virginia. In this role, you will be entrusted with the responsibility of handling customer applications, maintaining precise customer records, and addressing customer inquiries. You will also be tasked with monitoring customer accounts and taking suitable action when necessary.
Responsibilities:
• Efficiently and accurately manage the processing of customer credit applications
• Keep up-to-date and precise records of customer credit
• Provide customer service support to both internal and external customers, handling vendor setups, terms, payment method options, payment statuses, and resolution of discrepancies
• Execute basic accounting functions to ensure the correctness of vendor profile data, transactions, and account balances
• Handle vendor setup and maintenance, record payment cancellations and voucher corrections, resolve debit balances, and reconcile general ledger accounts against subsystems
• Participate in general ledger close activities and record journal entries
• Share knowledge with team members, stabilize new processes, and maintain documentation
• Act as a subject matter expert for business initiatives, contribute ideas for process improvements, and validate standard work
• Update training manuals and support special projects as needed.
Requirements • Proven experience in an Accounts Payable (AP) role within the automotive industry
• Strong proficiency in using Microsoft Excel for data analysis, reporting, and financial modeling
• Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to manage and resolve queries and issues effectively
• Understanding of financial regulations and legislation as it pertains to accounts payable
• Demonstrable ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail in handling financial data
• Good communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with vendors and internal departments
• Knowledge of general accounting principles and best practices
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is preferred.
