Description

We are on the hunt for a diligent Copy Editor to join our team operating in the local government sector, located in Richmond, Virginia. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for creating, managing, and updating a variety of documents and content for employees. This is a short-term contract opportunity where the candidate will be expected to collaborate with various teams to ensure the content is aligned with our branding and style.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and manage a range of documentation, including SOPs, job aids, FAQs, newsletters, and other relevant content for staff.

• Collaborate with business owners and staff to comprehend their needs and translate them into straightforward, actionable content.

• Edit content meticulously to ensure consistency in voice, grammar, and style following our guidelines.

• Assist in the development and maintenance of a standard procedure framework for consistent content development.

• Regularly review and update content to keep it current and relevant.

• Ensure all content is updated with operational changes and distribute process changes and reminders via Microsoft Teams.

• Respond promptly to urgent content requests, delivering high-quality materials swiftly.

• Use Adobe InDesign, Assertion Markup Language, Content Management System (CMS), Database, Facebook Insights, Blogging, Design, Editorial Content, Magazines, Job Aid, Newsletters, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Office Suites to perform tasks effectively and efficiently.

Requirements

• Minimum of one year experience as a writer

• Proficient in Adobe InDesign

• Knowledge of Assertion Markup Language

• Experience with Content Management System (CMS)

• Ability to manage databases effectively

• Familiarity with Facebook Insights

• Experience in blogging

• Skills in design and layout

• Experience with editorial content creation

• Familiarity with magazine editing

• Ability to create job aids

• Experience in producing newsletters

• Proficiency in Microsoft Teams

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites

• Ability to work in a local government setting

• Strong attention to detail

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong time management and organizational skills

• Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure

• High level of professionalism and commitment to maintaining high standards.
