Robert Half Employment Practices Specialist in Richmond, Virginia

Description We are in search of an Employment Practices Specialist to join our team in the Wholesale Distribution industry, based in Richmond, Virginia. In this role, you will be tasked with managing conflict resolution, providing associate counseling, identifying training needs, ensuring compliance and risk management, and maintaining documentation and reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Manage conflict resolution by mediating disputes between associates or between associates and management, conducting thorough investigations into complaints or grievances, and recommending appropriate solutions.

• Provide associate counseling by offering guidance and support to managers on addressing various workplace issues including performance concerns, interpersonal conflicts, and disciplinary actions.

• Identify training needs related to associate relations and conduct workshops or training sessions for managers and associates on topics such as communication skills, conflict resolution, and diversity awareness.

• Ensure compliance and risk management by staying updated on employment laws, regulations, and best practices related to associate relations. Assist in ensuring compliance with legal requirements and minimizing risks related to associate disputes or litigation.

• Maintain documentation and reporting by keeping accurate records of associate relations issues, investigations, and resolutions. Prepare reports and review analysis on trends, patterns, and areas of concern for identification of improvement opportunities.

• Utilize communication skills to effectively resolve conflicts and promote a positive work environment.

• Apply best practices in HR administration and management to ensure efficient operation of the organization.

• Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites to process, document, and report various HR activities.

• Use knowledge in employee relations and psychology to effectively manage and resolve conflicts.

• Apply knowledge in regulations, compliance, and risk management to ensure the organization's adherence to laws and regulations.

• Use training and onboarding skills to educate associates and managers on company policies and procedures.

• Apply knowledge in practices and financial notes to ensure accurate and efficient financial management within the organization.

• Demonstrate excellent communication skills in addressing associate concerns and issues.

• Use knowledge in complaints and litigation to manage and resolve associate grievances effectively.

• Apply knowledge in ensuring compliance to ensure the organization's adherence to laws and regulations.

This offers a long term contract employment opportunity. Requirements • Demonstrated proficiency in communication and documentation skills, with the ability to effectively articulate complex issues.

• Proven experience in delivering comprehensive training to staff members, ensuring understanding of employment practices.

• Familiarity with policy creation, review, and compliance, ensuring adherence to industry regulations and best practices.

• Understanding of human resources administration, particularly in the context of wholesale distribution.

• Experience with 'About Time' and 'Microsoft Office Suites' software, or similar platforms.

• Knowledge of shipping functions, including coordination with suppliers and logistics management.

• Proven track record in effective onboarding of new employees, ensuring smooth integration into the team.

• Ability to review and interpret financial notes, identifying any potential compliance issues.

• Experience in managing complaints and litigation, ensuring fair resolution in line with company policy.

• Demonstrated ability to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, promoting a culture of legal and ethical conduct.

• Proven experience in risk management, identifying potential risks and implementing mitigation strategies.

• Strong employee relations skills, including conflict resolution and performance management.

• Degree in Psychology or a related field would be advantageous.

• Proficiency in the use of industry-standard software and tools.
