Robert Half Human Resources Director in Richmond, Virginia

Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to join our team as a Human Resources (HR) Manager in Richmond, Virginia. In this role, you will be responsible for a range of tasks related to HR management, including recruitment planning, policy and procedure compliance, workforce planning, employee engagement, and performance improvement.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement recruitment and staffing plans in collaboration with managers

• Advocate for employees in all senior leadership discussions

• Ensure legal standards, such as I9 document completion, are met in a timely manner

• Conduct regular audits to verify policy and procedure compliance

• Lead workforce planning initiatives to build capability and optimize performance

• Develop, implement, and support retention strategies for specific partners

• Manage onboarding and orientation training for new team members

• Lead efforts to improve employee engagement and retention at the location

• Coach team managers on understanding business information and key performance levers

• Drive incremental improvements in performance through robust analysis and benchmarking

• Supervise the timely and accurate completion of all team member timesheets in our HRMS system

• Ensure efficient and welcoming employee check-in experience

• Manage employee investigation and progressive discipline procedures

• Implement strategic and operational thinking to implement strategy

• Ensure all team member information is accurate and up to date within the location HRIS system

• Oversee the timely processing of all unemployment claims

• Plan the team’s activity to deliver against medium-term objectives

• Ensure timely completion of all mandatory/compliance-related training

• Collaborate with location leadership to define management succession plan and development

• Partner with department leaders to optimize flexible labor scheduling

• Support managers in completing employee investigations and corrective actions processes

• Evaluate and audit working practices to manage risks and drive compliance

• Lead and shape change and improvement programs

• Attend manager meetings to support the overall management and governance of the location

• Deliver ongoing training and development to the on-site management team

• Collaborate with the location/partner HR team to develop joint strategies where appropriate. Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Human Resources (HR) Manager role or similar.

• Proficiency in ADP - Financial Services and ADP Workforce Now.

• Knowledge of ATS - Asynchronous Transfer Mode is essential.

• Experience with Ceridian, HRMS, and About Time is highly desirable.

• Familiarity with Benefit Functions and Compensation Administration.

• Understanding of Compliance regulations and procedures in HR.

• Experience in handling Employee Relations.

• Familiarity with FMLA regulations and management.

• Experience in Payroll processing and management.

• Knowledge of both manual and automated Payroll systems.

• Experience in managing Payroll for over 500 employees and under 100 employees.
