Description
We are seeking a Property Accountant to join our team in Richmond, Virginia. This role is within the real estate property and facilities management industry and involves comprehensive management of financial aspects of property accounting. The position includes processing customer applications, maintaining accurate records, and resolving customer inquiries.
Responsibilities:
• Analyze financial packages for assigned properties
• Manage the end of month close process and prepare for the start of the next month
• Handle and review Positive Pay exceptions for all banks
• Ensure accurate account coding and efficient use of accounting software systems
• Maintain and reconcile tenant accounts receivable and security deposit reports
• Record monthly mortgage payments and self escrows
• Handle insurance and real estate tax bills
• Ensure completion of property inspections and handle any discrepancies
• Assist with ad hoc projects and gather requested documents for auditors
• Serve as a backup for the accounting assistant in lease audit and daily duties
In this role, the use of accounting functions and software systems like AMSI and AppFolio will be integral. Proficiency in accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), accrual accounting, and auditing is also essential. This role does not offer the potential to transition into a permanent position.
Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Property Accountant role or similar within the Real Estate Property/Facilities Management industry
• Proficiency in accounting software systems
• Experience with specific accounting systems such as ADP - Financial Services, AMSI, and AppFolio
• Demonstrated knowledge of account coding
• Solid understanding of basic accounting functions
• Experience in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Familiarity with accrual accounting
• Proven experience in auditing processes and procedures
• Specialization in property accounting is required
