Robert Half Sr. Accountant in Ringwood, Illinois

Description We are in search of a seasoned Sr. Accountant to join our team in RINGWOOD, Illinois. This role revolves around overseeing general accounting operations by controlling and verifying our financial transactions. The Sr. Accountant will play a crucial role in reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining the general ledger, preparing month-end close procedures, and analyzing financial reports and forecasts.

Responsibilities:

• Apply project-related accounting methods for booking revenue and expenses by gathering appropriate data, calculating amounts, and booking transactions in accordance with GAAP percentage of completion standards.

• Provide support to the operations team with ad hoc analyses and information gathering to facilitate decision making for leadership.

• Assist with weekly customer invoicing based on project activity with operating team approval.

• Perform daily cash and credit card inputs into the ERP to speed up month-end close, gain accuracy of reporting, and enhance real-time KPI generation.

• Review and confirm labor, material, tools, repairs & maintenance, and capital expenditures on a monthly basis.

• Track profitability of projects based on estimates supplied by onsite management.

• Maintain balance sheet workpapers on a monthly basis and provide proper support for balances listed.

• Identify accruals and prepaid expenses then determine appropriate accounting methodologies before recording.

• Verify, allocate, and reconcile accounts payable and receivable.

• Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results.

• Analyze financial information and summarize financial status.

• Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending.

• Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.

• Participate in financial standards setting and in the forecast process.

• Prepare financial statements and assist in the creation of budget according to schedule.

• Assist with tax audits and tax returns.

• Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance.

• Support month-end and year-end close process.

• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

• Ensure compliance with GAAP principles.

• Liaise with CFO to improve financial procedures. Requirements • Proven experience in a Sr. Accountant or similar role

• Advanced knowledge and experience with Account Reconciliation

• Proficiency in Balance Sheet Reconciliation

• Experience in Bank Reconciliations

• Solid understanding of General Ledger maintenance

• Ability to prepare and analyze Journal Entries

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

• Experience in Month End Close activities

• Familiarity with NetSuite accounting software

• Proficiency in Oracle

• Experience with SAP software

• Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field

• CPA certification is preferred

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• High level of integrity and professionalism

• Ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
