Description A well-established family oriented company is seeking a Controller through Robert Half who has a knack for leading with high standards, positively motivating others, and making critical decisions and have experience taking charge of an accounting and clerical department. To succeed in this role, you will need to plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. Candidate must lead with integrity and reliability and have the ability to manage self and others with urgency, practicality and accountability when providing client services. This permanent position is for a Controller who will work in the Riverside, California region.
What you get to do every single day
Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management
Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure efficient and successful firm-wide operation
Meet client expectations by reviewing deliverables of self and team to make sure they meet client satisfaction
Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual
Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis
Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation
Present monthly financial reports
Perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities
Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis Requirements - 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued
Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required
Proficiency in Financial Statement
Knowledge of manufacturing is a MUST
Analysis experience preferred
Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment
Exceptional analytical, quantitative and social skills
Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
Ability to effectively interact, verbally and in writing
CPA or MBA preferred
Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines
Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
