Robert Half Staff Accountant in Rochester, New York

Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support our finance department in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting principles. The ideal candidate will be responsible for various accounting tasks, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger maintenance, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, including verifying invoices, coding expenses, and issuing payments.

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.

  • Prepare journal entries and adjustments to ensure proper recording of financial transactions.

  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and accruals.

  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis to support financial planning and decision-making.

  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve accounting discrepancies and ensure timely and accurate reporting.

  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing documentation and supporting schedules as needed.

  • Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and standards to ensure compliance with relevant laws and guidelines.

  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of accounting operations.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • 1-3 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Knowledge of GAAP and regulatory compliance requirements
