Robert Half Staff Accountant in Rochester, New York

Description

Our company is currently in search of a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining financial records and assisting in the preparation of financial reports. They will be collaborating with our finance department and will be tasked to ensure our company's accounting functions are operating effectively and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare financial statements and regulatory reporting documents.

  • Analyze financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures, provide strategic recommendations and maintain solutions to business and financial problems.

  • Perform general bookkeeping.

  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet and general ledger accounts.

  • Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements, reports and records by collecting, analyzing and summarizing account information.

  • Facilitate and complete monthly close procedures.

  • Responsible for payroll administration.

  • Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information.

  • Analyze and reconcile bank statements and general ledgers.

  • Review and process expense reports.

  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes.

  • Manage the preparation of the company's sales and use tax returns.

  • Respond to information requests, review financial statements, and assist with audits.

    Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.

  • Proven experience as a staff accountant or in a relevant role.

  • Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software.

  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, financial reporting, and generally accepted accounting principles.

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to meet deadlines.

  • CPA certification is a plus.
