Robert Half (Amanda Warren) is looking for an ambitious, eager Controller to join the team at an well-respected services company. In this leadership position, you will direct an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, you will plan and direct all accounting operational functions, manage the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assess accounting and internal control systems, and guide departmental staff. Based in the Sacramento, California area, this opening for a Controller is a permanent position.

What you get to do every day

  • Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure that firm-wide operation is efficient and effective

  • Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual

  • Review and revise deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations

  • Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis

  • Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports

  • Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

  • Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash

  • Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation

  • Occasionally perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities

    Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • High attention to detail

  • Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred

  • Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus

  • Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired

  • Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines

  • Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing

  • NetSuite experience desired

  • CPA or MBA preferred

  • Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Outstanding communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

  • Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
