Description

In this role, you will be planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. In this role, it will be critical for you to lead with integrity and reliability and have the ability to manage self and others with urgency, practicality and accountability when providing client services. The permanent Controller position is situated in the Rockwood, Tennessee area.

What you get to do every single day

  • Analyze deliverables of self and team to confirm they meet client expectations

  • Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation

  • Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis

  • Capable of handling responsibilities beyond formal job duties

  • Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed

  • Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash

  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis

  • Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time

  • Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports

Requirements - BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis

  • Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment

  • Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued

  • CPA/MBA preferred

  • Strong communication and social skills and able to receive criticism well

  • Good understanding of SAP Financials

  • General familiarity with Manufacturing Cost Accounting

  • Previous experience working with Microsoft Excel

  • Practical knowledge of Cost Variance

  • Journal entries experience

  • Variance analysis experience highly preferred

  • Budget forecasting experience

  • Background working with financial statement preparation

  • Proficiency in Manufactured Products

  • Adeptness in inventory controls

  • Experience with month end closings

  • Demonstrated knowledge of cost accounting

  • Earlier work involving bank reconciliations

  • Manufacturing experience required

  • Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision

  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills

  • Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required
