Robert Half has an opening for an ambitious Controller for a reputable company in the Manufacturing industry. In this leadership position, you will direct an accounting and clerical department. Manufacturing and standard cost accounting experience is required, and SAP is strongly preferred. As the Controller, your tasks will include planning and directing all accounting operational functions, managing the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assessing accounting and internal control systems, and guiding departmental staff. The Controller will be a permanent employment opportunity and will be located 100% onsite in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.

Your responsibilities in this role

  • Review and revise deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations

  • Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed

  • Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports

  • Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Capable of handling responsibilities beyond formal job duties

  • Collaborate with executive team and partners to make efficient and effective firm-wide operation possible

  • Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual

  • Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis

  • Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals

  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly

    Requirements - Outstanding communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

  • CPA/MBA preferred

  • Vow to meet business deadlines

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued

  • Self-starter and strong ethical standards

  • Earlier work involving Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT)

  • SAP experience highly preferred

  • Experience with CapEx

  • Adeptness in month end closings

  • Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) experience

  • Background working with Debit Memo

  • Practical knowledge of SAP

  • General familiarity with variance analysis

  • Expertise in Manufacturing Cost Accounting

  • Financial reporting experience desired

  • Demonstrated knowledge of budget forecasting

  • Strong familiarity with inventory analysis

  • Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required

  • Sharp, analytical thinking abilities, always seeking to draw connections and identify the "why"

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
