Description
A well-established Sacramento law firm is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney with at least 1 year of civil litigation experience to join their dynamic legal team. The firm specializes in a variety of civil litigation matters, including personal injury, business disputes, contract disputes, and real estate litigation. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior attorney looking to develop their litigation skills in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. As an Associate Attorney, you will support the litigation team in managing civil litigation cases from inception through resolution. You will gain valuable hands-on experience in court appearances, legal research, drafting pleadings, and working directly with clients. This role offers significant opportunities for growth and mentorship as you develop your litigation skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the management of civil litigation cases, including drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery documents.
Conduct legal research and draft memoranda on various legal issues related to civil litigation, including torts, contracts, and real property disputes.
Attend court hearings, depositions, mediations, and arbitrations, gaining hands-on experience in civil litigation procedures.
Support the litigation team with pre-trial preparation, including preparing trial briefs, exhibits, and witness lists.
Communicate directly with clients, providing updates on case progress and assisting in gathering necessary documentation and information.
Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop and implement litigation strategies that best meet the needs of the client.
Manage case files and ensure that all deadlines and procedural requirements are met.
Take on additional legal tasks and projects as needed to support the team.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Active California Bar license in good standing.
At least 1 year of civil litigation experience, including knowledge of California civil procedure.
Strong legal research and writing skills, with experience drafting motions, pleadings, and discovery documents.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to argue effectively in court and in settlement negotiations.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
A proactive and adaptable attitude, with a commitment to delivering high-quality legal services.
Experience in civil litigation practice areas such as personal injury, business disputes, or real estate litigation.
Previous experience attending court hearings, mediations, and depositions.
