Description We are seeking a Controller to join our team in Sacramento, California. This role involves managing the financial operations of a nonprofit organization, ensuring accuracy in bookkeeping, compliance with regulations, and effective budgeting. As a Controller, you will be instrumental in establishing internal controls, overseeing the financial aspects of grants, and supervising the accounting staff.
Responsibilities
• Oversee and ensure the accurate preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to provide insights into the organization's financial health
• Manage accounting functions including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and maintaining the general ledger
• Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, as well as donor requirements, including managing audits and filing necessary tax forms
• Collaborate with program directors to create and monitor budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals
• Establish and maintain internal control systems to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting
• Oversee the financial aspects of grants, including budgeting, tracking expenditures, and reporting to funders
• Provide analysis to support decision-making, identifying trends and variances in financial performance
• Supervise accounting staff, providing guidance and training as needed
• Operate various accounting software systems and CRM for effective financial management
• Handle customer credit applications and maintain accurate customer credit records Requirements
CPA Highly preferred
