Robert Half Payroll/HR Administrator in Sacramento, California

They are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll and HR Specialist to play a key role in managing our payroll processes and human resources functions. Duties will include:

Payroll Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely and accurate updates on new hires, salary changes, benefit adjustments, and terminations to Ownership.

  • Process payments, adjustments, special pay, and vacation pay efficiently.

  • Administer the Time and Attendance platform, addressing employee inquiries and facilitating new employee creation.

  • Review post-processing reports to validate payroll accuracy and completeness.

  • Assist in answering and researching complex payroll-related issues with employees, accounting, and legal.

  • Generate reports from Paychex to validate salary, deductions, manager and job changes, as well as new hires and terminations.

  • Calculate and deduct appropriate amounts from payroll checks, including tax withholdings and other garnishments.

  • Process unemployment claims and oversee internal payroll processes.

  • Validate payroll files/reports through reconciliation and review to ensure accuracy.

  • Evaluate processes and procedural documents for increased efficiencies and continuous improvement opportunities.

HR Responsibilities:

  • Uphold the Inverness Management Business Code of Ethics and promptly report any violations.

  • Administer and execute human resource programs, including employee relations, performance and talent management, recognition, morale, benefits and leave, disputes, and investigations.

  • Act as a trusted resource to employees and leadership, handling questions related to policies, programs, and procedures, including benefits, leave of absence, disability, workers' compensation, and insurance claims.

  • Ensure a smooth onboarding and a successful first-day experience for new hires.

  • Identify training and development gaps, providing training or training documents as appropriate.

  • Propose new procedures and policies to enhance the efficiency of the HR department and organization, improving the overall employee experience.

  • Provide guidance and ensure compliance with employment regulations in California.

  • Cultivate and sustain effective working relationships across the company.

  • Manage sensitive information with excellent judgment and discretion.



  • 3+ years of experience in payroll and HR functions.

  • In-depth knowledge of payroll procedures, employment regulations, and HR best practices.

  • Familiarity with Paychex or similar payroll systems.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
