Amanda Warren with Robert Half is in search for a strong staff accountant with non profit experience. The role involves managing various accounting tasks, including payroll processing, benefits administration, accounts payable and receivable, and grant compliance. This position offers an exciting opportunity for those who are experienced in the field and are keen to contribute to a dynamic team.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately process payroll for employees and administer benefits programs.

• Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate payroll processing and compliance with regulations.

• Assist in year-end financial close processes and provide insights to support decision-making.

• Handle accounts payable by processing vendor invoices and ensuring timely payments.

• Manage accounts receivable, prepare and distribute invoices, and follow up on outstanding receivables.

• Analyze timesheet data for grant-funded projects to ensure compliance with grant requirements.

• Record and allocate incoming checks accurately in the accounting system.

• Maintain and update the general ledger, prepare and post journal entries.

• Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other balance sheet accounts monthly.

• Assist in preparing financial statements in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.

• Prepare financial reports for grants, contracts, and other funding sources, ensuring compliance with funder requirements.

• Support the annual audit process, including the preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.

• Track and report on restricted funds, ensuring compliance with donor restrictions and grant agreements.

• Work closely with program staff to ensure accurate allocation of expenses to grants and projects.

• Assist in developing and maintaining internal control policies and procedures to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.

• Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend solutions to enhance efficiency.

• Perform other accounting duties and projects as assigned by management.

Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role as a Staff Accountant

• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Experience in performing Bank Reconciliations

• Knowledge of General Ledger management

• Ability to prepare and record Journal Entries

• Experience in performing Month End Close procedures

• Proficiency in using accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
