Robert Half Controller in Saginaw, Michigan


Our Saginaw County client is seeking an Interim Controller. As the Interim Controller you will be responsible for managing the finance and administration team, schedule and lead weekly meetings and present the monthly financial packet to the Board of Directors. The Interim Controller approves the biweekly payroll, check runs and requisitions and bank reconciliations. The Interim Controller reviews and summits quarterly reports to federal and government agencies.

The ideal Interim Controller will have 5 years of progressively responsible experience in financial management, accounting, or related field with at least 3 years’ experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity. A degree in finance or accounting and knowledge of grant accounting and federal, state and local contracts is also required. The interim Controller will need to have Advanced Excel skills and attention to detail. This is a long term opportunity for the right candidate.

Requirements - Working knowledge of ERP system

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with experience in establishing trusted advisor/consultant relationships and proven ability to influence Executives and Business Decision Makers

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and vendor management skills

  • Implement and improve changes in procedures immediately

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or other relevant field

    • CPA and/or CMA preferred
  • 5+ years professional accounting and controllership or public accounting and internal controls experience and/or Internal Audit or Controls and Compliance

  • Well-versed in office and accounting computer systems

  • Proven ability to provide leadership across finance team by engaging with different groups around the world via virtual communication

  • Comprehensive knowledge of grant accounting

  • Government Grants experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Balance Sheet Reviews

  • Federal Grant experience preferred

  • Knowledge of Monthly Financial Reporting

  • Monthly Financial Close experience

  • Adeptness in Microsoft Excel
