Staff Accountant

Your responsibilities

  • Partake in various department-wide initiatives

  • Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

  • Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll

  • Intercompany billings, transactions, and reconciliation

  • Maintain depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation

  • Manage schedules for monthly payments and capital lease

  • Prepare analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for management to report on

-Participate in tax engagements, including preparation of individual and business tax returns, tax planning opportunities, and tax estimate preparations for a variety of businesses and individuals.

-Participate in attestation engagements, including sampling, testing, and report preparation for a variety of businesses and organizations

-Assist in developing and supporting relationships with small business and individual clients, including proactively contributing to and implementing resolutions

-Support requests from external clients or internally as part of engagement planning or delivery.

  • Survey and organize various financial data, reporting it in a useful and understandable manner

  • Ad hoc reporting and performing special projects upon request

  • Thorough experience with month end balance sheet account reconciliations

  • Compose journal entries and conduct the month end close with minimal supervision

  • Recurring journal entries maintenance and reconciliation

  • Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

    Requirements

  • Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases

  • Exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics, A desire to obtain CPA license preferred.

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in public accounting, including a busy season.

-Experience with exempt organizations is a plus.

  • Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills

  • Self-starter and strong ethical standards

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment

  • High attention to detail

  • Competent with spreadsheets and databases

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel experience

  • Experience with ERP systems, Experience with Thomson Reuters tax software is preferred

  • Ability to thrive under pressure and Vow to meet business deadlines

-Demonstrated agility with serving multiple clients simultaneously

-Leadership skills, sound judgement and the ability to effectively interact with Firm personnel and clients.

-Ability to handle sensitive situations with confidentiality and extreme discretion.

-Ability to recognize problems, ask the right questions, think critically and contribute to identifying solutions

-Ability to travel as needed, which may approximate 20-30% of time.

-This is an exempt position, so hours that exceed a standard 40-hour work week will be required during busy times
