Description Legal Assistants support lawyers directly, and may be required to supervise other legal staff such as legal secretaries or file clerks.Legal Assistants should have strong analytical, communication and organizational skills, as well as computer and technical knowledge.In some cases, law firms prefer three to five years of legal experience in a law firm or other corporate legal department.

How you will make an impact

• Set up correspondence and memorandum

• Regulate computer database input and retrieval

• Stay on top of word processing, filing and faxing

• Scout and retrieve electronic documents from a variety of court and agency web sites

• Round up documents for photocopying/scanning

• Perform proper checks to ensure copies and originals are error-free

• Take the lead on the research of legal issues and investigative tasks, which may include collecting information and documents from external parties, as needed

• Facilitate electronic documents and files

• Look over matter management and record keeping

• Compile documents and assemble data as directed by lawyers and paralegals Requirements - Experience assisting lawyers in preparing for transactional closings, depositions, hearings, trials and conferences; completing many administrative tasks, including, working on individual cases or transactions

• Drafting legal court documents, such as pleadings, motions, affidavits and subpoenas; transactional documents, such as trusts, wills, contracts and real estate leases; and closing documents

• Conducting routine discovery

• Investigating the factual evidence of a transaction or case and preparing exhibits, charts and diagrams to display information

• Organizing and tracking files for important transactions or case documents, including pleadings and voluminous discovery documents; creating and maintaining a case-management database

• Background working with e-file

• Workers compensation law experience required

• Practical knowledge of Digital Files

• Plaintiff litigation experience

• Personal injury plaintiffs experience highly desired

• Earlier work involving Draft Documents

• e-Filing experience highly preferred

• Solid understanding of Legal Assistant

• Good understanding of Draft Legal Documents

• Adeptness in File management systems

• General familiarity with Dictation

• Demonstrated knowledge of Legal software

• Deep understanding of workers compensation

• 2+ years of relevant experience
