Robert Half Accounts Payable Specialist in Saint Paul, Minnesota

Description

We are offering a long-term contract employment opportunity for an Accounts Payable Specialist in the service industry located in Saint Paul, Minnesota. As an Accounts Payable Specialist, you will handle crucial responsibilities that ensure the smooth operation of the financial department, particularly in relation to the processing and management of our vendor and contractor invoices.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately process vendor and contractor invoices in a timely manner

• Manage vendor and contractor expectations through efficient and detailed communication

• Work directly with management to ensure that proper accounting procedures are followed for the purchasing and payment of goods and services

• Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment

• Analyze invoice/expense reports and record entries to appropriate accounts and cost centers

• Differentiate between invoices with and without Purchase Orders (PO) and process accordingly

• Prioritize invoices according to payment terms and prepare month-end accruals for unprocessed invoices or those awaiting approvals

• Respond to all vendor and internal inquiries in a timely and accurate manner

• Conduct reconciliation of vendor statements, research, and correct discrepancies

• Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices.

Requirements • Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP)

• Experience with processing payable invoices

• Familiarity with weekly account payable activities

• Competence in account reconciliation

• Understanding of sales tax implications

• Experience with handling purchase orders

• Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information

• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks

• Good communication skills for interacting with vendors and internal staff

• Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Knowledge of applicable accounting software and systems

• Strong problem-solving skills

• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy

• Understanding of confidentiality and privacy protocols
