Description Our client is seeking an interim Health and Safety Manager. Implement, coordinate and monitor the Corporate Health, Safety and Compliance function to meet the requirements of applicable law and regulations. Oversee health, safety and compliance programs including but not limited to DOT, OSHA and NRC. Coordinate health, safety, and compliance efforts with staff and maintain appropriate documentation of safety efforts and incidents. Act as a liaison between the organization and outside agencies in matters regarding health, safety and compliance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Reasonable accommodations or workable solutions may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. • Identify, communicate and implement applicable regulations and laws into an effective health, safety and compliance program. - Establish and maintain a health and safety reference library. - Keep apprised of changes in health and safety regulations and conduct research on technical safety issues. • Translate laws and regulations into active programs to engage employees and enhance the health and safety of the company.Maintain injury and illness prevention policies and procedures. • Review and update health and safety procedures as needed by changes in regulatory, industry and client requirements. • Monitor incident investigations, including root cause analyses. • Monitor program consequences and disciplinary actions. Plan and prepare for natural and man-made disasters and team with other Central Services functions to develop and maintain a disaster recovery plan. Establish a medical program that includes on-site first responder and first aid capabilities and off-site emergency medical care. • Implement, coordinate and monitor the corporate health and safety training. Provide a general safety orientation to all new employees. Train managers and supervisors in their safety responsibilities. Coordinate additional employee training including Hazwoper, MSHA, and First Aid/CPR/AED. Accompany OSHA and other outside safety inspectors and consultants on tours of the facilities. Follow-up on recommendations generated by OSHA and other outside safety inspectors and consultants. • Serve as internal safety advocate to reduce injuries and vehicle incidents and achieve competitive insurance premium renewals. Work with personnel to establish safe job practices and coordinate preparation of job safety analysis. Work with Facilities personnel on special hazards. Investigate incidents and review records and other documentation regarding recorded incidents, injuries and illnesses. Document, evaluate and communicate health and safety performance to staff and outside agencies. Requirements REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE · Bachelor’s degree in a health/safety related field. Consideration will also be given to an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. · A minimum of 5 years of directly applicable safety program development and management experience, with acquired knowledge of health and safety practices and procedures. · Certified Safety detail oriented (CSP) preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES · Excellent communication skills including the ability to present ideas to large groups in a clear and compelling manner. · Ability to organize, multi-task and prioritize work to meet time requirements and ensure productive use of available working hours. · Ability to question and/or correct errors in grammar, spelling and content of typed materials. · Ability to remain stationary for extended periods of time. · Familiarity with Microsoft Office and other computer programs necessary to complete required documentation.
