Robert Half Staff Accountant in Saint Paul, Minnesota

Description If you're a skilled accountant and enjoy solving complex problems, Robert Half is currently looking for a talented Staff Accountant to join their team on a permanent basis. As a Staff Accountant, you will be in charge of preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, various aspects of internal reporting will be under your responsibility. You will lend your skills to developing and implementing accounting policies. Also, you will take part in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This position is very complex as it plays a part in the production of Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Your responsibilities in this role

  • Organize and review a variety of financial data, reporting it in a way that is useful and understandable

  • Maintain, implement, and adhere to internal controls while ensuring that accounting procedures comply with GAAP

  • Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested

  • Produce complex journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll

  • Compose journal entries and conduct the month end close with minimal supervision

  • Oversee depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation

  • Manage schedules for monthly payments and capital lease

  • Regularly maintain and reconcile journal entries

  • In-depth experience with month end balance sheet account reconciliations

  • Intercompany billings, transactions, and reconciliation

  • Assist with the month end, quarter end and year end closing process by preparing monthly financial close workbooks

  • Partake in a variety of department-wide initiatives

  • Prepare analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for management to report on Requirements - Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required

  • Foundational knowledge in bank reconciliations

  • Accounts Payable (AP) experience desired

  • Deep understanding of account reconciliation

  • General familiarity with month end closings

  • Demonstrated knowledge of journal entries

  • Accounts Receivable (AR) experience

  • Experience with general ledger

  • Adeptness in general ledger

  • Great attention to detail

  • Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

  • Competent with spreadsheets and databases

  • Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

  • Recent and relevant accounting experience

  • Spreadsheet and database capabilities

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment

  • Knowledgeable of ERP systems
